Ben Van Praag

Personal statement

Ben Van Praag joined the University in September 2021. He is a lecturer in International Teaching and Support in the English Language Unit. His current responsibilities include delivering pre-sessional programmes and supporting international students across Bath Spa.

Ben previously worked for the University of Bath managing and delivering a wide range of academic skills and English language support to undergraduates, postgraduates and staff. He created online courses and resources to support students from non-traditional backgrounds in gaining entry into higher education. Ben also created, directed and taught specialist English language courses at Kyungnam University in South Korea for several years.

Ben has been involved in international projects that support English language development and education through creative methods for people in disadvantaged communities around the world. His professional interests include English language teaching and learning through creative methods and increasing access to education for those from disadvantaged or marginalised groups.
