All students - new and returning - are required to complete online registration, and new students will additionally be required to create an account. See below for details.

Online registration - new students

When can you begin online registration?

The online registration portal will open approximately two weeks in advance of your course start or course induction date.

At this time, you'll be sent an email from Bath Spa University inviting you to first create an account, and then to complete online registration. The email will be sent to the correspondence email address you provided at the point of application.

What you'll need

Completing online registration will take about 15 minutes, and you'll need:

  • Your six-digit BSU student ID number, which can be found on any formal email correspondence from the University.
  • A digital photograph for your student ID card (JPEG file, 3MB max). To make it easy for you, this step can be completed on a smart phone using a photo from your camera roll. Selfie time! 
  • Your bank account details and a valid credit/debit card (some courses excluded).

Do I need to complete online registration?

All students starting a new programme of study are required to complete online registration.

However, if you've studied at Bath Spa University previously, you won't need to create an account; you should be able to login to your account using your existing student ID number and password.

Student ID card

As part of the online registration process, you'll be asked to upload a photo of yourself for your student ID card.

You're encouraged to complete this step as early as possible so that we can have your student ID card ready when you arrive. It's easy to do - you can even access the online registration portal from your mobile phone and upload a selfie.

You'll be notified of where and when to collect your student ID card at your in-person enrolment session or through your course area.

Self service password reset tool

During online registration you will be taken to the Password Reset Tool, where you will be asked to answer some 'secret questions'. Make sure you remember the answers. This initial process is required only once, and it will  allow you to go online and reset your password yourself throughout your studies at BSU.

What If I'm unable to complete online registration before I arrive?

To ensure a smooth registration process, we encourage all students to complete as much of the online registration steps as possible before arrival - particularly the student id card section in step 2.

If you're unable to complete online registration prior to your arrival, don't panic - staff will be on hand at your in-person enrolment session to help you through the process, answer any finance queries you may have, and staff can even take your photo and upload it to your registration account.

Online registration - returning students

Do I need to complete online registration?

All returning students are required to complete online registration before the start of the new academic year. You should be able to login to the online registration portal using your existing student ID number and password.

Password resets

If you have forgotten or would like to change your password and you have previously set your security questions in the 'Register for password reset tool' section within online registration, please use the University's password reset tool

If you've forgotten your password and have not yet set your security questions, of you think you have been locked out of your account, please call the IT Helpdesk 01225 876500 or email ithelpdesk@bathspa.ac.uk.

Student ID card

Your student ID card can be used year after year - just be sure that your course end date is accurate. If you've taken a break in your studies or repeated a year, you may need a new card.

If your card has been damaged, bring it with you to the Santander branch at Newton Park campus for a free replacement.

If your card has been lost, you can receive a replacement card from the Santander branch at Newton Park campus.

If you are at another site, please email mycourse@bathspa.ac.uk to enquire about a replacement card.

Enrolling in person

After you have successfully completed online registration, as a final step you may be required to enrol in-person. Please see Registration and Enrolment Dates to see if and when you're required to enrol in person. If so, be sure to bring along proof of identification (government-issued photo identification preferred, e.g. passport or driving license).

If you haven't completed online registration prior to your enrolment session, don't worry! You'll be able to do this on the day and we'll be on hand to help you through the process. If you can, please do try to complete the ID card section (in step two) in advance as that means we can print your student ID card for you to pick up on the day.
