Undergraduate Open Days – where decisions are made
You’ve had a look online; you’ve been to a UCAS fair; you’ve got your stack of prospectuses; now it’s time to really delve into the universities that interest you most.
Open Days are a great opportunity to figure out which university is the one for you. You can check out the campuses, meet other students, scope out the social life, and visit your future halls. You’ll know it’s right when you can’t wait to get started!
What to expect at an Open Day
Before your event, we'll email you some information to help you plan your visit.
On the day, you'll receive a full programme and timetable when you register, and there'll be plenty of helpful Student Ambassadors around to point you in the right direction.
Here’s an example of what to expect during your Open Day.
- Attend the Open Day Welcome Talk
- Check out the course sessions and stands – chat to our course leaders!
- Head out on campus tours led by our Student Ambassadors
- Drop in to our student accommodation (both on Newton Park campus, and in the city just a short walk from Locksbrook)
- Grab food at the Refectory or Café and check out the Students’ Union
- Chat to student services like Accommodation, Wellbeing and Careers.
Think about some questions you want to ask our staff and students. An Open Day is your chance to find out the answers to everything important to you.
You could ask:
- What's life like living on campus?
- What’s the best thing about being a student at Bath Spa?
- What are the clubs and societies like?
- What sort of things would I be studying on the course?
- What are the entry requirements?
- What are some cool places to visit in Bath?
- What kind of financial funding or scholarships are available?
We’ve also put together a list of our top five Open Day activities to help you fully enjoy your visit and make the most of the day.
Open Days are a great way to get a feel for the University, to learn about what we can offer your student, and how we’ll support them throughout their time with us.
This is an opportunity to meet with student services, support staff and the senior leadership team and to ask them any questions you may have, and for us to help you with any concerns.
We know that the day can sometimes be overwhelming for students, so it’s handy to have a few questions you’d like to ask on their behalf you think they’d like to know the answers to as well.
Parking, travel and finding your way around
Your Open Day will take place at either:
- Newton Park Campus
Newton St Loe, Bath, BA2 9BN - Locksbrook Campus
Locksbrook Road, Bath, BA1 3EL
For advice on travelling to our campuses, please see our guidance on how to find us. Parking arrangements are outlined below.
Newton Park
If you're arriving by car, parking is free at Newton Park.
If you or a member of your group is a Blue Badge holder you can find dedicated parking outside Commons, the Library and Main House. Feel free to ask for directions from one of our event staff on the day and they will be able to direct you to a space.
Other visitors will be directed to the next available space in the main carparking at the top of the campus.
Locksbrook
Parking at our Locksbrook campus is free for Open Day with a Blue Badge. Due to limited parking, we're asking all other Locksbrook Open Day visitors to park at the nearby Rotork carpark where you'll then be able to catch a regular, free shuttle bus to Locksbrook campus.
The gates to the Rotork Carpark will be locked by the security team at 6.00PM, so please ensure you leave the carpark before 6.00PM. We cannot guarantee access to the carpark beyond that time.
We would encourage visitors to arrive by public transport if possible. The campus is a 15-20 minute walk along the river from the main Bath Spa railway station, and is well-served by regular buses.
You can find food and drink to purchase on the day at a number of our catering outlets on campus. Complimentary tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
We'd love you to share your experience with us on TikTok, Instagram, X and Facebook. Make sure to tag us to share the best bits of your day.
During your visit you might notice members of our Social Media and Digital Content teams capturing photos and videos for future use. Please speak to them if you would prefer not to be photographed.
Book a tour
If you can't attend one of our Open Days and you'd like to find out more about BSU, you can book a Talk and Tour.
These 90-minute events start with a presentation from a staff member on the people and places that make Bath Spa unique. This is followed by a campus tour, led by a current student.
Postgraduate Open Days
Our postgraduate Open Days feature course presentations, Q+A sessions and campus tours. You’ll get to talk to current students and staff, and explore the course you’re interested in through talks led by subject leaders.
You can also ask our teams about careers, finance, wellbeing and accommodation.
PGCE and Teacher Education Events
At our Teacher Education Events you’ll learn about the different routes into teaching, entry requirements, fees, scholarships, bursaries, and how to apply. You’ll also get the chance to ask our staff any questions you may have.
Please note, these events are most suited for individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree. If you’re interested in teaching and haven’t completed a degree, we’d encourage you to book onto one of our undergraduate open days where you can find out about undergraduate routes into teaching and our education courses.
Explore Bath
Our Newton Park Campus is nestled in the countryside just four miles from Bath city centre, and Locksbrook Campus enjoys a riverside location in the old industrial area of Bath.
Bath is a world-famous, beautiful city that is the ideal combination of the old and the new. Small, but perfectly formed, the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site which boasts world-famous architecture, a wealth of independent shops, cafés, clubs and bars, and a vibrant music, arts, and theatre scene. It’s hard not to fall in love with it.
During your visit, why not take a trip into the heart of the city?
"It was the campus that swung me. It’s small enough that it feels community-like and I could see myself feeling a lot more at home at Bath Spa than I would in a big city university."
Lauren Emery, BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies
"Photography and Film were my two passions. I struggled for a long time to decide which path to take, but after visiting Bath Spa I fell in love with the possibility of exploring both options with the openness of the Photography course."
Jake Ogden, BA (Hons) Photography
