Want to work part-time while you study? Lots of students benefit from the extra money, new skills and experience, but it's important to keep your studies and work in balance.

Working part-time as a student can be a valuable way to top up your monthly budget, experience working in real-world environments and add value to your CV – ready for when you graduate.

However, it's important to make sure you can fit any part-time work in with your studies. You should feel confident that you're reaching your full potential and graduating with the best possible results.

How much should you work?

If you're a full-time student, we recommend that you don’t work more than 20 hours per week during term time, but we recognise that this isn’t always possible.

Earn while you learn

At Bath Spa University, we understand the importance of balancing your studies with gaining valuable work experience.

That's why we offer our students a range of part-time job opportunities throughout the academic year.

Rules for international students

International students are usually permitted to work up to 20 hours a week during term-time if you're studying on a Student Visa.

Your hours permitted will be detailed in your Student Visa vignette, BRP or digital status (see more on your rights and responsibilities).

You should also read this guidance from the Careers team on taxes, National Insurance, and useful tips for finding a job in the UK.
