The Hall Commonwealth Scholarship
A £12,500 scholarship to support international students throughout their degree.
One international student from a commonwealth country will be awarded a stipend of £12,500 over the course of their undergraduate degree.
For students studying a degree without a placement year, payments will be made as follows:
- Year 1: £4,000
- Year 2: £4,000
- Year 3: £4,500
Those studying a degree with a placement year will be receive payments will be made as follows:
- Year 1: £3,000
- Year 2: £3,000
- Year 3: £3,000 (placement year)
- Year 4: £3,500
The Hall Commonwealth Scholarship is supported by Godfrey and Sue Hall, to assist one successful student in their studies at Bath Spa University.
Criteria
To be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:
- You are an international student from an international commonwealth country (UK Home students are not eligible).
- Your main place of residence is an international commonwealth country (outside of the UK)
- You are a current student fully enrolled on the first year of an undergraduate degree at Bath Spa University for September intake.
- You must be a Bath Spa University student studying at either Newton Park, Sion Hill, Locksbrook, Corsham Court or BSU London (Hoxton). Students studying at our Educational Partner institutes are not eligible.
Application deadline
Applications for 2024/2025 have now closed. We expect to open the Scholarship again in the next academic year, subject to continued funding being available.

We expect to open the Scholarship again in the next academic year, subject to continued funding being available. The application process for the next round is to be confirmed.
Applicants are usually expected to complete a digital application form, which includes a short supporting statement (of approximately 500 words) outlining how their degree will benefit both their career post-university and the community in their Commonwealth country of residence.
The successful applicants will be invited to an introductory meeting with the Scholarship donors, which they are expected to make reasonable effort to attend.
How applications are judged
The successful applicant is selected by the Scholarships and Bursaries Disbursement Panel, usually within six weeks of the application deadline. Decisions cannot be appealed.
