Claim up to £1,000 to cover the cost of a flight to a placement or internship abroad.

The Placement Flight Fund allows all undergraduate students to claim back the cost of a flight to their chosen destination to complete a placement or internship abroad. Students may receive up to £1,000.

Criteria

  • All undergraduate students are eligible.
  • This award is designed for students who have already purchased the flight and would like to claim it back.
  • You will need to provide the full details of the placement and provide feedback on the experience afterwards.
  • Retrospective applications will not be considered.
  • The Flight Fund is available to both home and international students, however the flight cannot be used to travel to a home country.

Deadline for applications

Applications are open from 1 October until 30 June, in line with the academic year.

How applications are judged

Your application will be assessed by our disbursement panel, which will consist of representatives from the Careers and Employability team.

The panel will meet every three weeks to discuss the applications received. You will be emailed and can expect to hear a decision or receive feedback on your application up to five working days after the panel has met.
