Claim up to £1,000 to cover the cost of a flight to a placement or internship abroad.

The Placement Flights Fund allows undergraduate students to claim back the cost of a flight to their chosen destination to complete a placement or internship abroad. The funding is available for the 2024/25 academic year, and students may receive up to £1,000.

Criteria

  • You must be an undergraduate student studying at Bath Spa University or Bath Spa University London. Students studying at our Educational Partner institutes are not eligible.
  • This award is designed for students who have already purchased the flight and would like to claim it back before their placement/internship begins.
  • You will need to provide the full details of the placement and provide feedback on the experience afterwards.
  • Retrospective applications will not be considered - you must apply for this Fund before your placement or internship begins.
  • The Flights Fund is available to both home and international students, however the flight cannot be used to travel to a home country.
  • This Fund is to support undergraduate placements/internships only. It cannot be used to fund a flight as part of a semester aboard scheme.

Deadline for applications

Applications are open in line with the undergraduate academic year.

How applications are judged

Your application will be assessed by our disbursement panel, which will consist of representatives from the Careers and Employability team.

The panel will meet every three weeks to discuss the applications received. You will be emailed and can expect to hear a decision or receive feedback on your application up to five working days after the panel has met.
