Freelands Foundation Fellowship
Open to any Bath Spa graduate, the Freelands Foundation Fellowship is an opportunity for practising artists to receive studio space within a prestigious art school, funding, and more.

Fellowship
The fellow will receive:
- Dedicated studio space at one of the following host universities:
- Belfast School of Art, Ulster University
- School of Art and Media, University of Brighton
- Gray’s School of Art, Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen
- Manchester School of Art, Manchester Metropolitan University
- Swansea College of Art, University of Wales Trinity Saint David.
- A £24,000 honorarium to support living costs and materials.
- A solo exhibition at the host university.
- A group exhibition at the Freelands Foundation Gallery in London in spring 2024.
- Access to the library, workshops and fabrication spaces.
- Support from a mentor, who will be an experienced member of the Fine Art teaching staff.
- Experience of working with Fine Art students, which could include participating in the delivery of group critiques, seminars, tutorials, workshops, and lectures as negotiated with your mentor. There will also be the opportunity to deliver at least one artist’s talk. Fellows will visit two other universities taking part in the programme, spending the day as a visiting lecturer working with students and staff.
Criteria
To be eligible for this fellowship, you must:
- Be an alumni of Bath Spa University
- Demonstrate a commitment to your artistic practice
- Submit a strong portfolio of work.

How applications are judged
The Freelands Foundation will collate and share the relevant submissions with host universities. The universities will then shortlist and interview successful applicants.
