We accept many payment methods, details of which are listed below.

All payments should be made in £ sterling. The tuition fee payment is required in full on or before arrival and commencement of the course. If you arrange to pay your accommodation fees by instalment it is your responsibility as a student, to ensure you have sufficient funds to cover any agreed payment.

The easiest way to make a debit or credit card payment is online.

Please note that we will never send an email with a direct payment link for any of our online payment methods.

Whichever payment method you use, you can pay the full amount online for the upcoming year in one go. The due date for payment in full is before registration or by 18 September.

Beware of tuition fee scams

Please be aware of scams targeting students offering to pay fees on your behalf, often at reduced rates or under special conditions.

Fraudsters may present themselves as legitimate agencies or associates and this is a scheme to steal money and personal data from students.

Never respond to these offers and always pay your tuition fees direct to Bath Spa University using the authorised payment methods below.

Visit our scams targeting students page to learn more about spotting fraud and protecting yourself from these scams.

UK payment methods

Debit or credit card

Debit or credit card payments can be made online.

  • There is no commission charge for payments by debit or credit card.
  • Where payment by instalment (for payment of accommodation) is permitted this is offered without additional charges.
  • We accept all major debit and credit cards except American Express or Diners Club card.
  • We do not currently have the facility to enable you to pay by direct debit from your bank.
  • Please ensure that you update your debit or credit card details via The Hub if your card is reissued for any reason; even if the card number remains the same, the expiry date may have changed.
Cheque/bank draft

If you want to pay by cheque/bank draft, you can either send them to the Income Office (Bath Spa University, Newton Park, Newton St Loe, BA2 9BN) in advance, or present them in person at one of the registration sessions.

  • Payment must be made in full on or before commencement of the course.
  • Cheques (not drafts) must be drawn on a UK bank account.
  • You'll be charged £10 for cheques that are returned from the bank unpaid.
  • Acknowledgment receipts for cheque payments are only issued on request.

Please make cheques payable to 'Bath Spa University', write your student number and identify what you are paying for on the reverse of the cheque/bank draft.

International payment methods

When to pay

If you receive an offer of a place on a full-time programme, you will need to pay a tuition fee deposit to confirm your place. The deposit for 2024/25 will be a minimum of £3,000 rising to 100% of the tuition fee. The deadline for the tuition fee deposit is 23 August 2024 for those students commencing courses in September 2024.

In all cases, the deposit will need to be paid prior to the issue of a Certificate of Acceptance for Studies (CAS), which is the first step in the process to obtain a student visa for the UK.

Payment of any pre-sessional fee (where applicable) must be paid in full before commencement of the course.

Please note that we do not accept Bank Transfer, and any payment received via this method will be returned. Please only use the approved payment methods provided on this page.

International students joining the University are required to pay the remaining balance (full tuition fee for the first year of the course minus the deposit paid) before arrival and commencement of the course.

We recommend that the balance of fees is paid before leaving your home country as your bank may need to verify your bank password, or may need to text message a confirmation code and this will not be received if you are in the UK and have changed your mobile SIM to a UK network.

The balance of tuition fees must be paid in full by 18 September for those students commencing courses in September and 31 January for those courses starting in February.
