Graduate support
We offer a range of support services for recent Bath Spa graduates, from guiding you with employment and further study to taking that next step in your career.
If the last university you graduated from was Bath Spa University, we have a range of services available through our Grad Support Unit to help you make successful steps into employment, further study or working for yourself.
Graduated in the last year?
As a recent graduate, you can continue to receive support by registering for a graduate account and then the dedicated Grad Support Unit on MyCareer.
Our support package includes:
We run the Grad Placement Programme that matches your talents with opportunities that are fully paid, exclusive and tailored to recent Bath Spa University graduates. These types of opportunity typically take place with local businesses and are either six weeks long, working 30 hours per week, or 12 weeks long working 15 hours per week.
Applications for this programme usually open in summer every year, and always begin with an application on MyCareer.
The Bath Spa Graduate Scheme enables you to begin your career at Bath Spa University and helps you smoothly transition into the workplace.
Roles last for 18 months, are available in a variety of departments, start each September and have a starting salary of £25,138.
As well as developing skills in your role, you'll also take part in an 18-month structured training and development programme. Part of this will include being matched to a mentor who is a senior leader, and they'll support your personal development and help expand your network.
You’ll also have a network of fellow Graduate Scheme participants, forming connections that can last a lifetime.
Applications usually open in spring every year, and graduates registered for the Grad Support Unit are the first to hear when the Scheme opens and get exclusive application support.
If you have any queries about the scheme you can ask a question on MyCareer.
We teamed up with Santander Universities to open EMERGE, our creative studio based at Sion Hill. EMERGE is a space to collaborate, share ideas and network with other creative graduates and industry practitioners.
Every year we welcome 30 recent Bath Spa graduates from across four key areas of the creative industries – art, design, performance, and media – for a studio residency to develop or continue a successful creative practice.
If you have any enquiries about EMERGE, please email emerge@bathspa.ac.uk.
Continuing your creative practice after university can be challenging, which is why we work with local studio providers to help support new creative graduates with work space needs.
Our Studio Residencies scheme provides new Bath Spa graduates with up to ten months of free studio space (including utility bills) and access to a range of facilities and peer support, funded by the University.
Find out more about our workspace providers and how to apply on our Studio Residencies page.
We have specialised resources that cover freelancing and self-employment and ways to support you in becoming your own boss.
Thanks to Santander Universities, our three support programmes of Explore It, Launch It and Grow It can award up to £5,000 to help support your idea, whether on your own or with others. You can find out more information and how to apply on the start-up and enterprise support webpage.

Graduate Outcomes Survey
We want to hear about what you're doing after graduation! Don't forget to keep in touch; if you've updated your contact details since graduating, please let us know by emailing alumni@bathspa.ac.uk.
Bath Spa University graduates, along with all UK university leavers, will be contacted 15 months after graduation to complete the national Graduate Outcomes Survey. You'll be asked questions about whether you're in employment, freelancing, further study or doing something else, and to reflect on the value your studies have played in your current activities - although not every path or destination is expected to be totally straightforward!
Your responses also help the University to shape and improve services for future and current students, as well as giving them an insight into career destinations, so all shared experiences are really valuable.
