Careers events and workshops

Throughout the year we run a number of events to help connect you with employers, develop your skills, hear from industry experts and explore different career paths.

Group Coaching

Have you ever felt unsure when thinking about jobs, work or your future plans? You're not alone, believe us! Our Coaches frequently hear the same concerns from students who believe they're the only one in such a situation.

On Thursdays from 1pm to 1:50pm, we host a Group Coaching chat that will connect you with likeminded peers to share experiences, gain insights and support one another. Each chat is themed differently, so you can sign up for the one that resonates the most with your current needs.

Each event provides a welcome and supportive space for up to ten students, with our Coaches facilitating conversations to offer guidance, advice and support, for whatever stage you're at. There's also free tea, coffee and biscuits available!

CV Check-Ins

We run weekly check-ins on our absolute number one most popular subject - CVs! Every Tuesday between 2pm and 4pm, feel free to drop in (you don't need to book) and get the help you need. 

If you'd like to plan ahead, register on MyCareer and send us your CV in advance and we'll be ready to chat to you about it when you turn up.

Employer in the Foyer

Come and say hi to your possible future employer, either in the Commons Atrium at Newton Park or in The Street at Locksbrook.

These ad-hoc events give you the chance to chat to representatives from businesses from all over the country, gain insight into what working for their company would be like, explore different industries that you may be interested in, and even get tips for catering your application for the business' needs so that you'll be top of the pile when opportunity comes around.

Career Essentials Workshops

Our Career Essentials Workshops cover our most popular topics in greater detail than time at an appointment would allow. In this lecture-style format, we'll speak about CVs and cover letters, interview tips, how to access the hidden jobs market, preparing for freelancing work, exploring postgraduate study options, and so much more.

External events 

We regularly promote relevant external events which can help with your career progression, including industry specific webinars, graduate scheme information events and more. These events can be found and booked on MyCareer.
