Developed in partnership with schools and early years settings, our Primary teacher training course will support you to become an innovative and inspiring teacher.

You can achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) through one of three age phases and specialist pathways:

  • Primary and Early Years (3-7)
  • Primary and Early Years (5-11)
  • Primary and Early Years (7-11)

Become a passionate, empathetic and skilled teacher of your chosen secondary subject from the very beginning of your course.

We offer the following PGCE Secondary subjects:

Teacher standing next to interactive whiteboard and teaching lesson to pupils

Become fully qualified to teach in just 12 weeks while working in your current school.

If you're currently employed in a school as an unqualified teacher and have at least two years' experience, our 12-week Assessment Only Route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) could be your route into teaching.

Teacher Education events

Come to one of our Teacher Education open evenings to learn about the different routes into teaching. We'll explain entry requirements, the application process and the financial support available for trainee teachers. You’ll get the chance to speak to our staff and get your questions answered.

These events are most suited for individuals who have already completed an undergraduate degree. If you’re interested in teaching and haven’t completed a degree, we’d encourage you to book onto one of our undergraduate Open Days, where you can find out about undergraduate routes into teaching and our education courses.

Funding

A range of different scholarships, bursaries and awards are available to both undergraduate and PGCE students, depending on which country you live in, your personal circumstances and the tuition fee for the course. Undergraduate and PGCE applicants may be entitled to the following: 

  • Tuition Fee Loan £9,250
  • Maintenance Loan (Partially means tested) £10,227

These are applied for and granted via Student Finance.
