Interested in Acting or Theatre, Festival and Event Production? This new, purpose-built facility immerses you in a professional, connected working environment that includes rehearsal studios, workshops in carpentry and costume-making, and break-away study areas.

Located near the city centre, our theatre workshops at Oldfield Park have been designed and built to industry standard, replicating the real-world production processes of staging theatre performances.

“What's great about studying in this space is that within two minutes I can be in the rehearsal rooms, or in the costume department, and in another two minutes I can be back working on the set-build – it makes the process a lot more collaborative, and all the skills you learn here are so useful for actual professional life.”

Imogen Howarth, third-year Theatre, Festival and Event Production student

Oldfield Park Theatre Workshops boasts:

  • Fully-equipped carpentry workshop and separate carpentry teaching space
  • Fully-equipped costume making workshop
  • Prop-making workshop
  • Three rehearsal studios
  • Black box space with a truss-mounted LED lighting system.

There are also breakout spaces, quiet study areas, lecture and seminar rooms and an IT Suite.

“It’s rare that a university is able to provide an all-in-one, industry-standard facility for these disciplines, so we’re delighted to be able to offer this with Oldfield Park Theatre Workshops. We have consulted with current students throughout the process, to ensure that the space is reflective of what they need to be able to reach their full potential during their studies.”
