Creativity forms the fabric of our spaces. Explore and experiment with a range of materials in our Digital Textiles workshop.

Our Digital Textiles workshop is used extensively by Fashion and Textiles students at both and postgraduate levels for Fashion and Interior applications; it can also be used for Fine Art and Research outputs.

Within this workshop, you'll find facilities for direct-to-fabric digital textile printing, dye sublimation printing, and laser cutting. You’ll be able to explore and experiment with ideas, theory and inspiration, visual research, textile processes, colour, fabric and yarn, pattern, styling and presentation.

Across this and other textile-based workshops you'll have the opportunity to work with a wide range of textiles equipment, including:

  • Traditional textile screen printing for fabric and wallpapers
  • Fabric and yarn dye range
  • Embroidery machines (Bernina, Irish, Cornelly, Tufting)
  • Digital embroidery machines
  • Knit machines (Silver Reed, Dubied)
  • Looms
  • Mimaki (direct to fabric) inkjet printers
  • Laser Cutter (large bed)

As a Bath Spa student of any course, once you’ve booked and attended your safety induction, you can use any of our workshop facilities.

We work closely with your course tutors to ensure that you’re inducted to the workshops that are relevant to your course, and this process is ongoing and flexible – you’re encouraged to attend refresher inductions as needed so that you’re always working safely with the wealth of techniques, facilities and technical support available.
