- Primary/Early Years
- English
- Business Studies
- Music
- Modern Languages.
Teach First is an education charity that believes no child’s educational success should be limited by their socio-economic background. They work with people and organisations who share their vision towards the day when every child has the excellent education they're entitled to.
About the programme
Developed in collaboration with leading schools and universities, the Teach First Training Programme combines world-class teacher and leadership training, and leads to a qualification that recognises your advanced skills in teaching and develops leadership attributes.
The two-year paid programme is based on global best practice and research and refined through more than 15 years of experience and feedback from leading employers, teaching experts and, of course, previous participants. You'll be employed and receive a salary in a school setting as an unqualified teacher during year one of the programme, before gaining QTS at the end of the year and continuing into year two as an ECT (Early Career Teacher).
If successful on the programme, you'll achieve a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) which is fully funded. This is double the academic credits of a PGCE. This academic work is closely aligned to the professional work you'll be involved in as you work towards achieving Qualified Teachers Status.
You’ll also acquire the key skills and personal qualities needed to develop into an effective leader – someone who can make a real impact. Training commences in the summer prior to year one with an intensive ‘Summer Institute’, which focuses on the essentials of teaching theory and practice.
