New opportunities for creatives across the region

Culture West, led by the West of England Combined Authority, is an ambitious two-year programme that will open up the creative sector to more diverse talent, ensure more communities take part and create art experiences, and build a resilient sector that will drive economic growth in the West of England.

Bath Spa University has partnered with the West of England Combined Authority and cultural and creative industry partners across B&NES, South Gloucestershire, Bristol and North Somerset to provide new opportunities for creatives looking to develop skills, businesses and employment.

As part of the Culture West programme, we are offering:

  • Creative Agency West: Working with the Creative Agency West partnership [Creative Youth Network, Super Culture and Boomsatsuma], MUTI Immersive and Noods Levels to support young people from underserved and underrepresented backgrounds to access a wide range of apprenticeships, internships, training and employment opportunities. This includes CPD opportunities for creatives re-engaging with their practice and older emerging artists.
  • Re-Emerge Residency Programme: a residency programme for artists and creatives looking to re-engage with their creative practice.
  • The Value of Artists: The BSU School of Art Film and Media will work with freelancers to develop a series of Learning Resources for schools to showcase routes into the Visual Arts. Find out more on the The Value of Artists webpage.
  • Arts Subscription Model: BSU is setting up a brand-new arts membership model [think gym membership but for maker spaces] in partnership with Little Lost Robot and North Somerset Council which will enable artists and creatives to access a range of maker spaces across B&NES and North Somerset.

The Culture West programme is made possible with funding from the West of England Combined Authority and Arts Council England
