Course studied: BA (Hons) Dance
Graduating year: 2019

I'm a freelance Dance teacher based in Northamptonshire, working weekly with six local primary and secondary schools to deliver classes for ages 4-18.

I also work with Romila, who deliver chair-based dance classes in care homes, ensuring the older generation experience a healthier, fun-packed quality of life on a regular basis.

In addition, I work with Spectrum Dance to deliver contemporary workshops and evening classes whilst also working alongside Dance4 CAT students. We're currently working towards a performance for U.dance, a national youth dance festival presented by One Dance UK.

I'm continuing my studies by participating in Dance4's professional development programmes, growing my understanding of various elements within the dance sector.

"A big highlight for me was performing at the Holburne Museum, being able to dance surrounded by historic portraits and artwork was extremely inspiring. Another highlight was producing a full-length show with my course mates to sold-out audiences in the University Theatre."

Why did you choose the course you studied at Bath Spa?

Dance was always a strong passion of mine and I wanted to develop not only my skills as a performer but the knowledge of various elements in the sector. After looking at the course at Bath Spa I knew that it would always be my top choice as there were so many options to be creative and help develop me as a dancer.

What were your highlights?

A big highlight for me was performing at the Holburne Museum, being able to dance surrounded by historic portraits and artwork was extremely inspiring.

Another highlight was producing a full-length show with my course mates to sold-out audiences in the University Theatre.

How did the course support your steps into industry?

The Professional Development module allowed me to network with amazing guest dance artists and gave me an in-depth insight into their journey within the dance industry. Within this module I was able to complete a placement with a contemporary dance company who I am now working for, so the constant connections are brilliant!

"The best thing about the course..."

Was being able to work with like-minded creative students and the constant support from the lecturers.

"I am most proud of..."

My development as a dance artist over the three years and the amount of skills I have learnt which will help me in future.

"My advice for current students..."

Although it can be extremely hard work at times, continue, as it honestly does pay off. Three years also flies by I wish I was back in your shoes!

"I recommend Bath Spa because..."

It's such a creative space and encourages individuality. Bath Spa supports every student, both during and after their degree. I had the best three years and want to relive every moment.
