Matthew is a freelance dancer and choreographer. Currently, he's part of the Studio Wayne McGregor Peer Programme where he's in the process of working with professional mentors and artists to develop his work.
Matthew's Bath Spa story
As part of my studies I had the opportunity to complete a semester overseas at the Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan.
Through this experience I found the beginnings of my own movement style, based in movements that come from the centre of the body. I also realised that movement flows to the extremities of the body and that the simple movement of a limb can be as beautiful as a complex movement structure.
I aspire to combine my movement style with my love of nature and culture to develop my own individualistic approach to choreography.
Why did you choose the course you studied at Bath Spa?
I wanted to develop my knowledge and understanding of the performing arts and Bath Spa offered the opportunities to train, to create and perform.
