Personal statement

Keith Kopp is a film director and lecturer in film and television production at Bath Spa University. His films explore themes of transformation, redemption, and family dynamics.

His debut feature film Translations had distribution in cinemas across the United Kingdom and it received the Audience Choice Award for Best Feature Film at the Riverside International Film Festival (2023).

Together with his screenwriter Laurence Guy, Keith is developing his next feature film, supported by the BFI Network Early Development Award.

Keith is a lecturer on Specialist Roles, a level 5 module which is a year long experience for students that builds on their foundational knowledge from level 4 and encourages them to specialise in a role and build on their craft.

His current research is on directors' visualisation techniques. His work explores the intricate process of transforming written text into visual imagery, with a particular interest in the intersectionality between performance and the creation of aesthetics.

This research offers valuable insights into the art of filmmaking, contributing to both academic discourse and practical application in the field.
