Personal statement

Jeff is a Senior Lecturer in Music. He joined Bath Spa in October 2012, having previously worked at Bluffton University, Otterbein University, and William Penn University (all in the USA).

Jeff teaches Music Composition, and conducts the Wind Band, Orchestra, Opera, and ir Programme Co-ordinator for Performances. His research is in two areas: learning technologies and music composition.

His learning technologies research currently had focused on utilising mobile technologies in the performance classroom. He seeks to find ways to help students engage with their own learning to empower them towards greater creative and performative understandings through self-assessment.

His current research interests involve developing performance materials for classical musicians who wish to improvise.

As a composer, he his multifaceted, but writes mostly for the trumpet, focusing particularly on trumpet and electronic accompaniments. He has also written for chamber ensembles, jazz / big bands, and marching bands.
