Personal statement
I work in the role of Teaching Fellow at Bath Spa University.
In 2018 I graduated with a PhD in Sociology from at Department of Sociology at The University of Cambridge in 2018 as a mature student. Prior to that I studied Media & Culture Studies at UWE and a Masters in Social & Cultural Theory at The University of Bristol.
My research until now has mainly been focused on the social and ecological impact of advanced agricultural systems and premodern methods of farming.
As well as teaching sociology, I also work as an urban gardener and environmental campaigner. My campaigning work has been focused on protecting allotment plots in inner-city Bristol as well as a number of countryside and farmland areas on the outskirts of Bath (Burnett, Corston and Newton-St-Loe).
My role as a sociologist is key in using digital communication technologies to mobilise and organise local community groups in challenging local and national development policies.
