Personal statement

Chen is a lecturer in psychology at Bath Spa University. He's interested in studying interpersonal dynamics, such as the Behaviors of sports practitioners. This is one of the three core examinations (ABCs) of sport and exercise psychology research, along with Affects (feelings) and Cognitions (thoughts).

More specifically, he worked on topics of coach leadership behaviours, quality coach-athlete relationships, team psychological safety, and effective coaching behaviours.  

He has a multicultural educational background, completing his undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral studies across the UK, USA, and China. 

His current research focuses on extracting insightful findings from archival data to understand how psychological factors improve performance-related activities, and in turn, how these activities affect people's psychological development.
