Bath Spa University marks University Mental Health Day
Thursday, 13 March, 2025At Bath Spa University, the words ‘mental health matters’ are more than just a slogan. Through a number of different services, events and initiatives, BSU is a place where the mental health of students is paramount.
This University Mental Health Day, we’re spotlighting the amazing work done across the institution. From care dogs to empowered alumni, there is plenty of support available for students to help them throughout their studies and beyond.
Uni Mental Health Day Events
To mark University Mental Health Day, Bath Spa University is hosting several events across our Newton Park and Locksbrook campuses.
Between 10am and 2pm at Newton Park and Locksbrook, students can meet Mental Health Advisors and chat to them about the support available. Students are also invited to take part in an art in nature workshop, pick up some goodies and share their feedback on mental health services at BSU.
In the evening, BSU Wellbeing Facilitators will be running a ‘Blue Mind’ Campus Walk, based on the science-backed idea that being near water boosts calm, creativity and wellbeing , starting at The Sitting Room at 5pm, followed by a Fire Pit Gathering from 6pm-9pm in The Secret Garden, where students will have the opportunity to roast marshmallows and spend time with their fellow students.
Four-Legged Friends
BSU is proud of its famed Care Dog Scheme, allowing students to take a break from their studies and mingle with four-legged friends for mindful walks, drop-in sessions or just a cuddle.
The Care Dog Scheme has been running since 2020 and currently boasts 16 qualified members, all of whom would attest to cheese being their favourite food of choice.
