Product and Furniture Design students exhibit souvenir designs at Holburne Museum

Wednesday, 29 May, 2024

First year Product and Furniture Design students are getting the chance to stay ‘up late’ and exhibit their souvenir designs at the Holburne Museum. The students will showcase their limited edition souvenirs, created in response to the museum and its history, at the Holburne Up Late event on Friday 31 May.

A key part of the Product and Furniture Design course, the yearly project tasks students with designing souvenirs inspired by the Holburne and provides an opportunity to link creativity to the building and the museum’s collection.

Students present their projects to the Holburne audience, telling their stories of inspiration from the Holburne, their concepts and their production processes for their souvenir. Many of the items will be for sale at the event and can be purchased through the museum gift shop.

Erin Deighton, Course Leader for Product and Furniture Design, said:

“The Holburne are a great partner and inspiration for the students. They are instrumental in supporting student learning. Students gain valuable experience from the project and build confidence from presenting and talking to a public audience about their work.”

First year Product and Furniture Design student Sayna Afshari-Esfidvajani said:

“It’s the first full project we’ve done and it’s a great opportunity to put our work out there and get feedback from the public.”

The project also aims to highlight creativity as a positive and mindful activity and is part of the Holburne’s ‘Mindful May' Up Late event. As one of BSU’s cultural partners, the Holburne Museum works closely with the University on several projects throughout the year.

The Holburne Up Late ‘Mindful May’ event is on Friday 31 May from 5-9pm.
