Monday, 17 March, 2025

BSU’s notable Graduate Scheme has launched for its third year running. Offering bespoke roles for recent graduates, the scheme is an exciting opportunity for Graduates to kickstart their professional career.

After 13 graduate roles successfully launched in 2024, a huge increase from 5 in the previous year, BSU’s Graduate Scheme has returned with even more roles available for career driven individuals. With positions available across numerous departments within the University, Graduates can easily find a role that fits them.

Graduate Scheme Project Lead and Employability Coach, Rajinder Boucher explained:

“The Graduate Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for recent graduates to launch their professional career within higher education over a course of 18 months. It provides clear structure within a familiar and nurturing environment with access to a rich and plentiful training and development programme. It enables various services and departments across the university to implement a fresh and dynamic perspective when it comes to understanding the student journey. Now in its third year, the participation across various academic and professional services across the university has enabled the scheme to grow year on year, this is a real testament to the commitment that BSU places in attracting a diverse workforce which reflects the latest skills and knowledge.”

Alongside professional experience, Graduates will also be fully supported with learning and development. For the full 18 months, Graduates will be matched with a mentor from the senior leadership team to guide them through any personal or professional queries they may have. Graduates will also connect closely with their peers on the scheme, with a structured training and development programme on a variety of career related topics. These programmes aim to build self-awareness, increase visibility and impact in the workplace, and overall steer Graduates towards a clearer career plan.

Florence Couper, Graduate Communications and Brand Development Content Co-ordinator says:

“My current role is a stepping stone to what I want to go into in the future. There’s lots of roles tailored to different sectors within the university, so there’s definitely something for everyone to gain practical experience for the future.”

The current cohort of Graduates are six months into the 2024 scheme. They have participated in two Basecamp training sessions with Lisa Smale of Talent Pool and BSU’s Employability Coach, Rajinder Boucher. So far, they have learnt team building exercises, impressions in the workplace, and how to confidently present a pitch/presentation.

For the Careers team, employing these added benefits alongside standard training and full-time work, enhances the graduates personal and professional skills, allowing them to adjust smoothly into professional work beyond BSU.

With the scope to grow the scheme, here are the 15 available roles:

All of the 15 opportunities are full time, 18-month fixed term positions that last from September 2025 to February 2027. Final year students and Class of 2024 graduates can apply now!
