BSU Alumna cultivates successful business career at luxury fashion brand Dior

Tuesday, 16 July, 2024

BA Business and Management alumna Chloe Marsden soars to new heights in her career as she leads a team working for LVMH – parent company of huge luxury fashion brands Dior and Louis Vuitton.

Starting her BA Business and Management degree at Bath Spa University in 2015, Chloe was unsure of which direction to take in her career. From her study and the vast module options on offer through the Bath Business School, Chloe found her way.

Reflecting, Chloe said:

“The Business and Management course was really broad, which was great for someone like me who didn’t know what area they wanted to specialise in. We were given the option of different and vast modules in year 2 which allowed me to study something I was more passionate about. The support from all the lecturers was incredible, especially around the big research dissertation.”

As she studied, Chloe was encouraged to take up work experience in her second year. With an interest in human resources and business recruitment, she found a summer internship in her hometown which then lead to a full-time role when she finished her degree.

Chloe spent some time working within recruitment, before making the move to London to further her career, working at Mulberry. It wasn’t long before Chloe was noticed for her talents by LVMH Beauty and started as a Talent Acquisition Specialist for luxury fashion and beauty brand Dior.

Chloe said:

“I joined LVMH in February 2022 as a Talent Acquisition Specialist and was promoted in March 2024 to a Talent Acquisition Business Partner overseeing all recruitment for Dior UK and Ireland, Head Office and Retail, with a team reporting to me.”

Advice for current students

Chloe’s career journey thus far has taken determination and hard work in a competitive landscape.

“My advice would be always push yourself. The world of work and particularly the luxury industry is extremely competitive and there are times where you feel you will never get a role, promotion or opportunity.”

Perseverance, open-mindedness and resourcefulness are all attributes Chloe adopted throughout her degree and beyond.

“Don’t give up and stay focused on what you want to achieve. Actively ask for advice and feedback. Network at any given opportunity, follow up on interviews, meetings and expand your professional network.”

The career support and resources at Bath Spa University are available to help students and graduates get into the world of work.

“Lastly, use the resources and teams at BSU! I had a great career chat whilst at university with the career teams. I also went to my lecturers to seek advice and practice interview questions – you'll never have the chance for that advice (for free) again!”
