BSU recognised for Knowledge Exchange work in latest KEF results

Wednesday, 18 September, 2024

The latest Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF) results, published today by Research England, place Bath Spa University as one of the best performing mid-size, teaching focused, universities for two areas of knowledge exchange.

The KEF celebrates the breadth of how English universities serve the economy and society, for the benefit of the public, business and communities. BSU’s strong performance underlines the university’s far-reaching, real-world impact that transforms lives locally and nationally through our knowledge exchange activity. The KEF is the knowledge exchange equivalent of REF and TEF.

BSU has performed particularly strongly in the Intellectual Property and Local Growth and Regeneration categories.  BSU also matches its comparators’ typical performance for Public Engagement.

Professor Anna Walker, Director of Innovation and Knowledge Exchange, said:

“This is an exciting time for knowledge exchange at BSU. It’s fantastic to see our knowledge exchange capabilities recognised, and I look forward to further expanding our excellence in this area.”

The Knowledge Exchange Framework is an annual exercise to compare Bath Spa University to a group of similar universities in seven categories: Research Partnerships, Local Growth and Regeneration, CPD and Graduate Start Ups, Public and Community Engagement, Working with Business, Working with the Public and Third Sector, Intellectual Property and Commercialisation.

Professor John Strachan, Pro Vice Chancellor Research and Enterprise, said:

“Our KEF results are an opportunity to celebrate the outstanding knowledge exchange that takes place across at Bath Spa University.  Our colleagues work hard to extend the reach of their research and other activities by working with businesses and communities across the region and indeed the world.  Today's results reflect the value of this work to all concerned and give us much to be proud of.”
