Celebrating the beautiful city of Bath through Bridgerton season three
Wednesday, 15 May, 2024Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, and the golden-tanned hues of sandstone – Bath is an image of historic beauty; a picturesque home to many of our students at Bath Spa University but also a home to many of the filming locations of the popular Netflix show, Bridgerton.
The first two seasons of Bridgerton contained peppered shots of beloved Bath townhouses and streets – and Bridgerton season three is no different.
Filming equipment and known Bridgerton cast members were spotted filming in Bath in January 2023 for season three – including new location, Duke’s Hotel on Edward Street and people’s favourite, The Royal Crescent.
Multiple locations across Bath have been used as the backdrop for this modern period drama, these include:
- No1 Royal Crescent – Featherington Residence
- The Royal Crescent – Mayfair area, London
- The Holburne Museum – Lady Danbury’s Residence
- The Abbey Green, ‘The Abbey Deli’ - Madame Delacour’s Dress Shop
- Duke’s Hotel, Edward Street – Season Three
- The Assembly Rooms, Bath Street, Alfred Street, Trim Street and more.
A Double Agent
The Holburne Museum features as the Danbury residence in seasons one and two of Bridgerton, but it is also an innovative cultural museum and gallery. Bath Spa University is a proud partner of the Holburne; the museum's work brings diverse collections of art together providing a unique educational experience for residents of Bath and our students.
Chief Operating Officer of the museum, Emma Morris, told us the impact The Holburne and Bath Spa University partnership has had:
“Working with students and course leaders brings new ideas, performance and design into the museum, showcasing young talent and attracting new audiences - especially through the evening events. A number of students also become volunteers and we also offer student placements."
Visitor’s Welcome
The filming of Bridgerton has attracted much attention to the beautiful city of Bath, bolstering the city’s already popular attractions. Bath Spa University students are in a unique position where they call Bath their home but also get a chance to visit these spots with fresh eyes.
First-year BA Creative Writing student and Bridgerton fan, Rebecca Phillips gave us a unique insight into her experience as a student, resident and visitor of Bath through her blog post – written with the flair of Lady Whistledown herself.
Whether you call Bath home, or you’ll be viewing Bridgerton from a screen in your home soon – the city of Bath holds extraordinary beauty and is a fascinating place for entertainment lovers across the globe.
