BSU X BCFC host inaugural student night

Monday, 14 October, 2024

Bath Spa University and Bath City Football Club (BCFC) are strengthening their pioneering partnership by coming together for an evening to remember.

Kicking off what will be the first of many, the University is working closely with the Football Club to host its inaugural Bath City student night where BSU students can enjoy £4 advanced tickets to Bath City’s highly anticipated match against Weymouth.

As BCFC prepares for their 12th game of the season, students can look forward to an exciting evening filled with live music from local talent and captivating performances by Bath Spa University's Cheerleading Society, the Bath Spa Rapids.

BSU is the proud sponsor of Bath City FC’s home, Twerton Park and the Bath City Women’s teams. The University features pride of place on the back of the teams’ shirts and has recently become the main front shirt sponsor for the men’s team.

Renowned for hosting entertaining football matches that encapsulate the club’s community spirit, Bath City FC has built a stellar reputation as a successful, professional club that brings people together to create an inclusive, considerate and diverse atmosphere.

But the club’s reach doesn’t stop there. Stretching far beyond football, Twerton Park has monopolised on its facilities and transformed into a hub for activities and organisations -scoring another goal for its services to the community.

BSU’s ongoing partnership with the Football Club offers students the chance to engage with the team on a unique level, with opportunities to volunteer, gain experience and engage with local communities.

The student night comes hot on the heels of BSU’s curriculum development and student experience initiatives, which have provided Sports Media Production students with the chance to gain first-hand experience pitch side, getting knees deep in the day-to-day reality of sports media production.

Senior Communication and PR Officer and Bath City FC Media Manager, Matt Francis, discussed the upcoming event:

“Student night is a great opportunity to experience everything that Bath City Football Club has to offer, and a local derby under the Twerton Park lights only adds to the sense of occasion.

“Whether you’re attending for the first time or simply ticking off another match, everyone is welcome on the terraces. As a BSU staff member and current Bath City volunteer, I can vouch that this will be one of the most memorable dates in your calendar.”

Kick-off is at 7:45 pm on Tuesday 22nd October and students can arrive early to enjoy cheap pints both in the club's main bar and in-ground bars. For £4 advanced tickets, students can book their place online through the Bath City FC website.
