Bath Spa's Fine Art Research Fellow John Wood and Paul Harrison have collaborated with Hauser & Wirth Somerset's youth group, Arthaus, to produce a film that is being screened at the Somerset gallery throughout the summer.

Wood and Harrison started working together in 1991. They collaboratively make single-channel videos, multi-screen video installations, drawings, prints and sculpture that elegantly fuse aesthetic research with existential comedy. The artists’ sparse, to-the-point works often explore how human beings interact with everyday objects. Wood and Harrison’s work regularly features the actions of their own bodies, along with a wide variety of static and moving props.

Taking their methods as a starting point, the commissioned project ‘This Is The Plan’ invited young people to be involved in a three-day workshop, spending two days filming with Wood and Harrison. This was a unique opportunity for members of Arthaus to work alongside the artists, learn about their creative processes, and to embrace collaborative practice and to produce an original short film.

The film ‘This Rectangle’ will be screened from 26 May – 9 September 2018 at Hauser & Wirth Somerset.
