About the seminar

In this session, Professor Earle and Dr Read share findings from a Nuffield Foundation study on purposeful practical work in primary science, briefly considering the literature, a stakeholder survey and teacher interviews.

They invite seminar participants to discuss their draft guidance for practical work pedagogy.

About the speakers

Professor Sarah Earle leads the Teacher Assessment in Primary Science (TAPS) project, which has been found to have a positive impact on pupil learning together with the Nuffield Practical Work in Primary Science project. 

Dr Stuart Read is a disabled academic and activist with research interests and experience across the fields of disability studies and inclusion. He is co-investigator on the Wellcome Trust-funded ‘We Are The People’ programme, which aims to understand the contemporary issues affecting disabled people in South West England.
