Many people tend to think that poetry exists only in a printed form. But is our experience of poetry ever just textual? How does our understanding of poetry expand when we consider sound, voice and performance? This talk explores the background to the UK spoken word scene and its current lively presence in Bristol and Bath.

About the speaker
Lucy English is a Professor of Creative Enterprise at Bath Spa University and co-director of the Lyra Bristol Poetry Festival. She is co-editor of 'Spoken Word in the UK' published by Routledge in 2021.
