Part of our event series for Black History Month 2022.
In this two hour interactive workshop, we'll explore afro-futurism and the Black Joy movement. Facilitated by Renée Jacobs, Founder of B in Bath, participants will be encouraged to actively take part in imagining and designing joyful Black futures. This workshop has been developed out of a fatigue Renée personally felt from talking about Black history, and the often traumatic themes that confront us when we consider racism and the Black experience in the UK (and globally).
Rather than spend another two hours of her life creating space for discussion and learning around these difficult (but necessary) topics, Renée is excited to be able to open up conversation and thinking to the radical and transformative power of joy, and the possibility that through creative and imaginative thinking we can learn from history and new and better futures can be brought into being.
