Your Library Account

Review or renew your loans and requests.

Your loans will be automatically extended unless they have been recalled, or unless you have outstanding debts or overdue loans.

Please note: it's your responsibility to ensure loans are returned or renewed on time.

Fines

Fines are only charged on items that have been recalled and not returned by the new due date. We will email your University email address to inform you if your items have been recalled.

You can pay Library fines through your Library account.

Please make sure that all overdue items are renewed or returned before  making an online payment so that the amount owed is calculated correctly.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, this is possible via the Click and Collect service.

Once you have been notified that your request is available, you will have seven days to pick it up.

Unfortunately, you cannot reserve eBooks.

All students and staff can borrow up to 25 items.

These can be any combination of items - books, audiovisual materials, DVDs, CDs etc.

There is a standard loan period of 1 year for all items, except those that are marked as reference only. Your items will be automatically renewed for you.

However, if an item you have on loan is recalled, i.e. if someone else requests it, you will need to return it by the new due date. This allows fair access to high demand items.

Please email library@bathspa.ac.uk or contact us on chat if you need to discuss returning your items.

Fines are only charged on items that have been recalled and not returned by the new due date. They are charged at 50p per day (not including weekends or closed days).

If fines are above £10.00 you will be not be able to borrow or renew items until you have paid.

Please let us know as soon as possible so that we can help.

If a Library item is lost or damaged, we will normally charge for a replacement ordered through the Library’s approved suppliers.

Please do not replace the item yourself. Any replacement needs to be processed by the Library before it can be added to the collection, and items bought independently may still lead to a processing charge.

Please contact library@bathspa.ac.uk if you need to discuss a lost or damaged item.

All borrowed items must be returned to the Library if they are recalled by another user, or when your Library membership expires (for example if you graduate or leave the University). If items are not returned within 28 days of the recall date or account expiry date, they may be invoiced at the full replacement cost.

We would always prefer to have our resources returned. Invoicing is only used as a last resort where items are not returned and need to be replaced for future users.

If you need help returning your items, would like to discuss your account, or if you believe your account should not yet have expired (for example if you are applying for an extension to your studies), please email library@bathspa.ac.uk for assistance.

From the date of invoice, you will have 6 months to either return the original item or, if you have already paid the replacement charge, ask for a refund.

After 6 months, we will treat the item as permanently lost and may replace it in Library stock. Once this has happened, we can no longer accept the original item back, and no refund will be available.

We would always prefer our resources to be returned. However, where items are not returned, we need to replace them, so they remain available for new and returning students. Invoicing is only used as a last resort.

Please contact library@bathspa.ac.uk if you need to discuss an invoice or any other Library charges.
