Your steps to starting at Bath Spa

Step 1: Search our courses

Take a look at our courses and choose which Master’s course is right for you from a variety of in-person and distance learning options.

Step 2: Consider your options - make a visit

There are plenty of opportunities to visit us. Why not book a campus tour (see below) or try one of our Open Days?

Step 3: Gather your documents and/or prepare a portfolio

Be ready to upload any documents you may need to support your application, for example; qualification certificates, an academic or professional reference, English language certificates, visa information and a portfolio (if required). Please check individual course pages for portfolio information.

Step 4: Make an application

Apply now through our dedicated course pages and submit your application. Our courses have limited places and will close as soon as they are full so we recommend applying in good time.

Step 5: Check your emails!

We may need to contact you to request additional information or invite you to an interview so please make sure you regularly check your emails.

Step 6: Application decision

Once you have received a decision on your application please let us know if you wish to take up the place within 8 weeks. If you require an extension, please do not hesitate to contact our Admissions team.

Step 7: Preparing to come to Bath Spa

We will send you everything you need to know about coming to Bath Spa before your arrival. Information regarding finance, accommodation and student wellbeing can also be found on our website (see below for useful links).

The Postgraduate Alumni Scholarship

Bath Spa University alumni/graduates progressing to a Taught Master’s in the 2023/24 academic year could be eligible to receive £2,000 towards the cost of tuition fees.

Postgrad FAQs

Can I still apply for a postgraduate course if I don’t hold a bachelor’s degree?

We will still consider your application if you do not hold a BA/BSc degree or equivalent as long as you have a minimum of two years relevant experience in that sector. Please check our Accreditation of Experiential Learning policy for more information.

How quickly will I get a decision on my application?

This varies from course to course, however we hope to have a decision for you within 4-6 weeks of applications being received.

How do I apply?

You can apply directly for all our postgraduate courses on our website. Make sure to check your chosen course page for more information and specific instructions. If you’re unsure and would like to discuss this further please don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Admissions team.

Can I defer my application?

In most cases you can defer your application to the next academic year. To request a deferral, please email admissions@bathspa.ac.uk.

When do I need to decide?

We ask that you let us know within 8 weeks if you would like to take up our offer. If you require an extension please contact our Admissions team to let us know.

Can I apply again if I am unsuccessful?

Some of our courses are very popular and unfortunately we’re unable to offer places to everyone. We’re unable to accept applications for the same academic year but we hope that you will consider applying to us again in the future.

Can I visit campus?

Applicants can book a guided or virtual tour of our campuses online.
