Documents - we may request additional documentation

  • Qualifications and certificates
We benchmark all non-UK qualifications using the UK National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC). If your qualification and transcript are not in English, we’ll request a certified translation.
  • A Level and IB Diploma results

If you have taken A Levels or the IB Diploma, and require a Student Route Visa to study in the UK, you will be required to submit a print out of your qualification or transcript results from the awarding body’s online checking service which clearly shows:

    • your name,
    • the title of the award,
    • the date of the award, and
    • the name of the awarding body

In addition, IB Diploma results should be sent through to the University via the International Baccalaureate Organization’s IBIS portal. Please read our instructions on how to do this.

  • Fee status questionnaire
We’ll assess your fee status after you submit your application. You may be asked to complete a Fee Status Questionnaire and provide requested documentation. Our fee status team will make an assessment based on UKCISA guidelines and email it to you. If you have any questions about this process, email feestatus@bathspa.ac.uk.

  • Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Information Form
If you require a Student Route Visa, we may ask you to complete a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) Information Form. The UK Council for International Students (UKCISA) provides lots of helpful information.

Accommodation

Once you’ve received an unconditional offer, you’ll be contacted by Student Accommodation to arrange your accommodation. You’ll also be given pre-departure information. We’ll give you an arrival date so make sure your flights are booked to coincide with that date.

Preparing to come to the UK

We'll email you all the information you need well in advance of your arrival. Included will be helpful information about booking flights, opening a UK bank account and available transportation services to Bath from both Bristol and London Heathrow airports.

Opening a bank account

Why open a UK bank account?

You may find it useful to have your own bank account in the UK. If you are planning on doing some part-time work during your studies, you’ll need a British bank account.

Due to banking restrictions, you’ll only be able to open a bank account in the UK, if you study here for six months or more.

Seeking advice of your bank at home

Your own bank at home may have a relationship with a bank in the UK. Find out what their advice is and what methods of transferring or accessing money abroad are available for you. Make sure you find out the cost and security measures of each method.

How long does it take to set up a bank account?

After you’ve applied to open a bank account, it can take several weeks to set up. We advise that you:

  • arrange for your tuition and accommodation fees to be paid by some other way (bank transfer from your home bank account or by credit/debit card);
  • ensure you have enough money to support yourself for several weeks until your bank account is set up.
