Jacque's placement with YCSW | Part 2YCSW provide both universal and targeted opportunities for young people aged 11 - 25. They offer a range of support including youth work, 1-1 targeted support, alternative education, careers advice and guidance. They operate from various localities and have their own youth hub - Southside.
Bath Spa University's partnership with YCSW aims to benefit both Bath Spa students and the communities that Youth Connect support. A key part of this is a funded Community Events Co-ordinator placement at YCSW for a Bath Spa student. Working from the Southside Youth Hub this role will bring resources of both Bath Spa and YCSW together for the benefit of the community.
YCSW are also supporting and/or have space to support other students to get involved with professional Youth and Community work either through year long placements or small learning opportunities.
Youth Connect South West's annual Young People's Awards returned for the second year to celebrate the outstanding personal effort by young people to improve their own situations through their hard work and tenacity.
The 2020 Awards were completely virtual due to the lockdown but in 2021 they were celebrated in-person, with the option for others to watch from the comfort of their homes. The Awards showcased the work of Youth Connect including their community youth work, targeted support service and their educational programmes. The awards featured a performance from a very talented young music artist who is working with Youth Connect Music programme (Street2Studio).
