Jonathan Glasspool

Personal statement

Jonathan is Chair of the Industry Advisory Board for Publishing Studies at Oxford Brookes University and Non-Executive Director at Edinburgh University Press.

He was formerly Managing Director at Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, and President of Bloomsbury USA and India.

Within Bloomsbury, Jonathan was responsible for founding Bloomsbury Academic and Professional division which grew rapidly since it started in 2008, and now specialises in the humanities, social sciences, visual and performing arts, law and tax. He also founded Bloomsbury Digital Resources, in 2015, which provides educational digital resources to universities and colleges around the world. Output of titles and digital services is now over 2000 per year.

Bloomsbury was winner of the IPG Independent Publisher of the Year Award and Frankfurt Book Fair Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year in 2013 and winner of Academic and Professional Publisher of the Year in 2013, 2014 and 2021 at The Bookseller Annual UK Industry awards. Its digital services have won various prizes including the American Library Association Dartmouth Medal three times and Futurebook Best Digital Platform in 2016.
