The Institute for Education is proud to be involved in the Year of Digital Citizenship.
Thirteen projects have been proposed and approved all of which will use open education resrouces to produce examples of best practice in:
- MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses)
- online guides
- interactive videos
- games and learning platforms
Each of these projects will focus on one or more aspects of digital citizenship:
- Information Quality
- Creative Expression
Building Your Online Presence as an Educational Professional
This will be an online guide for students embarking on training for a career in education. It will enable student to be proactive and in control of their online presence.
Supporting Safe Creative Art Practice: Online Video Resources
The digital teaching and learning resource will comprise 5 short instructional videos outlining key aspects of risk assessment and identifying hazards.
Online formative self-assessment tool
A third year module tool for helping students to get ready for final assessments by practicing with an online self-assessment tool.
A short series of choose your own adventure interactive videos focused on policy and practice to be used to support learning in seminars.
MOOC in Early Years Education
A new MOOC with a focus on ethical practice and ethical relationships in research with Early Years education developed as a short course for students.
Group Presentations Digital Learning Object (GRUPLO)
GRUPLO will explore existing practice in digital collaboration and create a learning space for all students to use digital tools in group presentations.

Dialogic Online Learning Network in Early Childhood (DOLNEC)
DONLEC will be a structured online space that will facilitate the sharing and discussion of ideas relating to early years and higher education.
Interactive Reading Lists
A core reading list will be provided via Mendeley and students will build new knowledge networks by adding their own readings.
Children’s Visible Voices
Working with nursery children, parents, and practitioners the team will create high quality video and reflective data exploring local outdoor environments.

Writing for the Web: Less can be More
Building on the World Wide Web Consortium this project will utilise web-based success criteria to help students produce a web-based article that makes the argument for the role of technology in future education.
International Students- Learning to Play the Game
A narrative game that will induct international students to the cultural and procedural aspects of life in south-west England.
Virtual Learning in a Flying Faculty
This project will produce high quality content captures for students in a partner college to use in their own dissertation studies and focus on student voice.
Virtual Reality Classroom Environments
Using Google Cardboard and mobile phones this project will create an immersive interactive classroom experience to understand how classroom environments impact learning.
